Wow, 2022 already. We're here! We have been through a lot, let's be honest. We're leaving some difficult years behind us and I think I speak for everyone when I say we're ready for new opportunities.

According to recent surveys, 60% to 80% of people say that they don't want to go back to how things were before. That's a huge number. We have evolved. Two years is habit forming, and we've spent a big part of these years being in reactive mode. We had to adapt. We have tried to keep our head out of the water. We hung on to floating pieces of wood. Some of us have built a little raft to save other people as well. Now, it's time to build your yacht. It's time to take back control of your life.

It's time to look into what is possible. It's time to use all the learnings from the past few years to decide what it is that you want now, how you want to shape the next ones. We realized lately, with everything that's going on, that we don't have control about how the world is. But we do have control about how we react to the things that happen.

So how do you take charge? How do you control your life? By defining exactly what it is that's important to you. Take some time to make a list of the things that you want. What is possible for you? What do you want? Place your order.

You know when you go to the restaurant, sometimes you look at the menu and you think: "Ah, I think I'm going to order this, because I don't know how to make this at home."  Then the waiter goes to the kitchen and places your order for the chef to make.

Do you think the chef knows how to make the dish that was on the menu? Obviously, yes. If it's on the menu, the chef knows how to make it. Maybe he does not have all the ingredients to make that dish, or he's missing some, but if it happens, he'll just go to the pantry or the market and get what he needs to fulfill your order.

My point is, if you can dream it, it means it's on your menu.

And if it's on your menu, your unconscious mind will go get the ingredients that you need and will cook that dish for you. Your unconscious would not let you dream it, if it was not sure that you can achieve it. All you have to do is to place your order. And as you are defining exactly what it is that you want and why you want it, that's when you start to identify what could potentially be in the way. Are there people in your life that are not helping you reach your goal? What are the things that will be in the way? Who's stepping on your garden hose? Figure it out so that you can remove the kinks. Identifying them is the first step to knowing where you have some work to put in.

Sometimes, we work towards a goal, but we forget to identify what's in the way. And that's what I do with my clients. We figure out why they aren't successful right now. They know what to do, but sometimes they get stuck. What is holding them back? Is it a thing, is it a person, is it a belief, a past traumatic experience, fear? Once this is figured out, then we can start working on getting rid of that kink in the hose.

It's time to start taking charge of your life. It's the start of 2022. This year will be what you want. You will face events and challenges: things will happen. You can either let them happen to you and always be in reactive mode, or you can take charge. It's time to shape your future and it's time to reclaim the driver's seat of your life.

Make sure you make some time to sit down and place that order. Tell your personal assistant in your head, tell your unconscious mind what you want, because somehow the chef is going to cook something in the kitchen, whether you ask for it or not. Wouldn't it be wonderful if he cooked what you asked for instead?
