FullSizeRender[2]Sooooooo… July 18th was my birthday and as per my resolution, I had not had dessert since December31st. In 2015, I made a resolution of buying the strict necessary (groceries and toothpaste kind of stuff). After completing 2015 without buying anything (no clothes, no shoes, no purse, no towels, sheets nor decoration for the house, etc.) I was looking for a new resolution for 2016. On December 30th, as I was standing in the kitchen at 7am eating the left over of my favourite dessert that my mom had made specially for me the night before I had a flash. No one should stand beside the fridge at 7am eating rolled dough cooked in maple syrup (I know I am from Quebec…) So even if that was an exceptional moment, still… there was initiated my decision that in 2016, I would not eat any dessert. No ice cream, no muffins, no banana loaf, no cookies, no chocolate, nothing sweet. I had decided in advance that the only exception to the rule would be my birthday. Which was this week!!! yay!!!!

fudgedonutIMG_4836saladI had been quite excited about it, looking forward to eating all the treats I want, however, after 7 months of not eating any sugar, I already feel ill thinking about the day ahead. I can’t even stand raisins and cranberries in my oatmeal in the morning as they taste too sweet. So my girlfriends have helped me prepare…. Linda made me the most amazing cake of all, Carol-Ann bought me a full box of sweets, along with Pepto Bismol and Tums, LOL, and my husband woke me up with a candle on a piece of sugar pie! Darci picked me up for lunch and took me on a sweet tour to have the best sweets of Vancouver! I think the best part of the day was actually my salad at lunch!! LOL!!

sukie cupcakeI was hoping to make it safely to the next day… I did pace myself and only had one bite of each.

My poor participants in my class had to deal with an over excited sugar-high-style-Zumba-class! To top it all, my friend Sukie brought homemade cupcakes for everyone at the class! Oh my!! The evening was supposed to wind down with smores and chocolate on our roof-top deck… It didn’t happen… I was in a sugar coma by then.

Now for the record, if I can go a full year (at the exception of one day of course) without dessert…. so can you! Mind programming is such a great tool and I am always amazed at the things I can do when I program myself well. And to those of you who think that it must be easy for me because I more likely did not use to enjoy these things I say: Are you kidding me? It is not because I don’t eat dessert that I don’t like it! I spend lots of time on my board at the beach and every other person is holding an ice cream in their hand. I love ice cream! I just chose not to eat it. Sweets are awesome, don’t get me wrong, they are just not serving me at all so I put them aside for a year just to see. Except for my BIRTHDAY!!!
