World Health Day is on April 7th. I know you probably know this already, but health is probably the most important thing that we all have in common. If we don't have our health, we cannot have a thriving business. If we don't have our health, we cannot take care of everybody else that we care about. And yet, it's one of the things that we very often put aside, because we're too busy to take care of it...

Today's (short) blog is about two things you can do right away in order to get started with taking charge of your health.

The very first strategy is to try to listen to the voice in your head. What does it say? What are the limiting beliefs or the excuses that you are coming up with and that lead you to neglect your health? Below are a few examples of what they could be:

 

"I don't have time."

"Healthy food doesn't taste good."

"I am lazy. I don't feel like exercising."

"Exercising takes too much time."

"I am weak."

"When I lose weight, I always gain it back."

 

What are the limiting beliefs that are holding you back? Listen to what's happening in your head, because you are in control of that little tape that's playing over and over. You can choose for it to say something different.

Here's strategy number two. Once you have figured out what these limiting beliefs are, you are going to transform them. Whatever the thing that you keep repeating, try and phrase it in past tense.

For example, "I'm too busy" becomes: "I used to think that I was too busy, but now I'm willing to learn how to change that. Now, I'm willing to find time. I'm willing to look at my schedule and carve some time." Because if you don't have time to be healthy, then potentially, you'll be unhealthy and you'll be sick. And being sick takes a lot more time off your schedule than being healthy. So find the time.

If you keep repeating: "Oh gosh, when I lose weight, I always gain it back." It now becomes: "I used to think that when I lost weight, I would always gain it back. But now, I'm willing to learn how to change that. I'm willing to figure out how to make it permanent."

Try to listen to that negative self-talk in your head, catch it, and then transform it with a progressive statement like "I am willing to learn" or "I'm in the process of".
