I got inspired for this blog as I was sending funeral arrangement of flowers and chocolate to one my friend who just lost her husband in a tragic car accident.
In the busy society where we live, it is very easy to get caught into the day-to-day and forget to set up some time aside for our friends and family. Call someone today and book them now in your busy calendar for next week, next month. Whenever. Set priority time aside.
We all work. Some of us many jobs at the time. We train, go to the gym. We do the grocery shopping, clean up the house, fix whatever needs to be done at home, cook a few meals, do homework with the kids, pay the bills, run errands, it is endless. There is always something to do and there is always something that doesn’t get done. When we finally have a free evening, we are exhausted and the last thing we want to do is to see people or go out.
In this busy world, it almost becomes a TASK to go out and have dinner with friends. Or to call our family. Or to visit them. What is wrong with us? We’ve just had a few couple of extra busy weeks (and we were sick too which tend to double the overwhelming factor of things). We were going to our grandson birthday party, then our daughter was inviting us over the next day for dinner, then a friend from Toronto was visiting and we were out again, then run around all week and again, back-to-back dinners with friends. It is very easy to fall into the trap of almost feeling sorry for ourselves for being so busy and not having any time for ourselves…. But to the contrary, it is necessary to do a mind-shift here and realize that we are in fact super lucky that we have family and friends that want to spend time with us. That we are all alive and healthy and we get to enjoy each other’s company. We actually had great times with all these going out events. We rushed to get there and everytime, on the way back in the car, we talked about how happy we were to have spent time with our friends and family.
Don’t wait until you have nothing else on the agenda, it’s not going to happen. Just make an effort and seize every opportunity that you have to be with the ones you love.
Well said, putting in the effort to spend time with friends and family is very important and can get lost in our busy schedules. With that said we hope to see you guys again real soon:)
