“You gotta be careful, baby please drive safe,  traffic is really bad today, they say it’s gonna rain. Call me when you get there, or call me on your way.” He’d give you a hug that kind of never ends, he’d say that he loves you and say it again.

“Be careful with your money girl, these days when things are tight”. He’d tell you that he’s happy when you say you met a guy, then get real quiet when it’s time to say goodbye.

He will never tell you that he is going out of his mind, scared to death of knowing what is coming down the line.

You will never hear him say those words stuck in his throat, cause there’s a time for holding on and there’s a time for letting go. But those tears in his eyes that he tries to hide and walk away, that says all the things, it says everything, a daddy won’t say.
