What’s important to you? What is in your mind right now? What occupies your thoughts as you are waiting in line at Starbucks? What were you thinking about when the car in front of you fudged in your lane and caused you to awaken from your unexpected day dream while driving? That is what’s important to you right now. Doesn’t matter how little it is. Even if it’s just a meeting that went wrong or what you are going to wear this weekend at the dinner you’re invited to. Whatever it is, it is important to you right now. All you feel like thinking about and talking about is that « thing ».
Now have you thought that everybody around you has something in their head too? What’s important to them? What are they thinking about? What’s their answer to the « what’s up? » question?
Have you ever thought that you could be the person to deliver them from what is consuming them right now? Go beyond the what’s up and ask people around you what’s in your mind right now? and let them talk…. BEFORE you start talking about YOUR stuff…. what is important to them, needs to become what is important to you.
Genuinely find solutions for them, talk over how THEY can feel better, help others and…. magically, you will notice how what was on your mind has decreased in importance. All of a sudden you actually can find solutions for your own stuff and the discussion you have about the other person’s problem becomes a light bulb for you.
Remember to Be Your Best!
