You care. You want things done right. But when “done right” turns into “never done,” or when you’re constantly beating yourself up for not being perfect—that’s not excellence. That’s fear dressed up in a fancy outfit.

Watch the video or keep reading for more. If you want to be completely amazed by artificial intelligence, this week for the first time, I played with AI to record this video. I simply wrote the blog, uploaded the text and ad my digital twin record the video for me. Check it out, it is worth watching just to see how far AI can go now. Note: I am not planning to do that all the time but I wanted to try it… check it out…

Back to our topic…

Perfectionism often stems from a sneaky subconscious thought:“If I’m not perfect, I’m not enough.”

That thought becomes a belief. And beliefs are powerful. They shape how we act, how we speak to ourselves, and what we dare to try.

The Problem?

Perfectionism stalls action. You hesitate, procrastinate, or quit before even starting. You wait for the “perfect” moment, the “perfect” version of you, or the “perfect” outcome—and life passes by.

Here’s the Shift:

Let’s reprogram that belief with a tool from the THINK Yourself® DNA System:REWIRE Your Self-Talk with the “I Used to… Now I…” Technique

Instead of forcing positivity that your brain doesn’t believe (“I’m amazing!”), use bridge language that gently shifts the narrative.

Try this:

“I used to feel like I had to be perfect before taking action. Now, I choose progress over perfection.”

Repeat it. Write it. Say it every time the urge to over-polish, overthink, or freeze shows up.

Why It Works:

You’re acknowledging your current programming while creating a new path forward. The brain resists what it thinks is a lie—but it accepts evolution. You’re not ignoring your patterns—you’re rewriting them.

Final Thought:

Confidence isn’t about doing things perfectly. It’s about showing up imperfectly and doing it anyway.

Start now: What’s one thing you’ve been delaying until it’s “perfect”? Say your rewire sentence, and take one tiny step.

Progress beats perfection every time.

Check out some of my previous blog posts…

If you Tell Someone, It Doesn’t count

You are not Broken: Perspective Distorts Perfection

How to Stop Making Mistakes?

Perfectionism seems like a strength.
